The garage door installation process begins with the removal of the old door. The hardware parts, including the tracks of the old system, are removed along with the panels. The process of installing a new door may vary from one model to another, depending on the design and on the hardware used. With traditional models which consist of different panels, the installation begins with the attachment of weather seals to the panels. Then it continues with the placing of the hinges and the setup of the panels from the bottom up. The spring or springs are installed and adjusted last after the setup of the tracks and rollers in place.

Once the door is set in place, it is connected to the opener. If the electric operator is new, it has to be properly installed before it is connected to the door. When the automatic system is ready, the travel limits and the force of the opener are adjusted.
